About Hafren Water

Hafren Water is an independent consultancy which specialises in the assessment and management of groundwater and surface water issues both within the UK and overseas. Hafren Water was formed in early 2000 by the Managing Director Chris Leake.

The Company ethos is to provide appropriate, cost-effective advice to clients in a form which can be readily understood and applied. This approach is derived from industrial experience within the oil exploration industry, quarrying and overseas groundwater development sector where workable solutions were always required. The diverse background of personnel within the Company brings key skills from the fields of civil engineering, water resources, mining geology, research and the regulatory sector. All of our work is based upon the recognition that ultimately clients are attempting to solve practical problems, whether they be minimising environmental impact, increasing efficiency (processes or water use), reducing operating costs or minimise risk of circumstance occurring which would result in unforeseen expenditure.

Hafren Water aims to not only address the issues raised by clients, but also by applying professional experience, identify other issues which may be of concern or where more efficient procedures could be adopted.

It has long been recognized by the Company that the high level of technical capability within the UK could be applied more effectively in the developing world, leading to great improvements in water provision and environmental management. Involvement with WaterAid since 2000 has strengthened the view that this is the case.
