Background
Hafren Water, in association with our partners, has in-depth knowledge of the key factors involved in making such eco-hydrological (or hydro-ecological) assessments.
We frequently provide advice for clients upon a disparate range of water issues, drawing upon our wide understanding of water-related fields. We are therefore able to integrate effectively between the related fields of groundwater, surface water, water-supported ecology, regulatory constraints of possible developments and flooding issues.
Hafren Water staff are experienced in low flow studies for the Environment Agency and research into groundwater-surface water interactions as well as extensive experience of water based habitat creation and wetland assessment and design.
Services
Services provided include the following:-
- Low flow assessment on rivers
- Eco-hydrogeological impact assessments
- Characterisation of groundwater-surface water interactions (including site investigation of quality and quantity)
- Surface water management assessments including the feasibility of SUDs
- Options and feasibility assessments for the development/improvement of water-dependent habitat
- Water level management plans
- Landscape restoration and habitat creation
- Future scenario groundwater modelling
Practical approaches are taken to examining the water environment (groundwater/surface water/rainfall) which involves working closely with ecologists and landscape architects to define habitat objectives for a site. Flood risk alleviation and sustainable drainage design (SUDS) may also be incorporated into wetland habitat creation.
