Background
Hafren Water provides support to clients in both the Planning Application and permitting stages of landfill development and operation. Assessment of all water issues associated with landfilling can be undertaken including the development of a conceptual understanding of the setting of a site and risk assessment. Quantitative risk assessments are undertaken using industry standard software. Extensive experience exists within the company of undertaking both the technical input and also providing support to the client during negotiations with the Environment Agency.

Hydrogeological services are regularly provided by Hafren Water in relation to obtaining planning permission or Environmental Permits (previously PPC permits or WML) for landfill sites with varying waste streams from inert to hazardous.

Hafren Water provides a full PPC Permit Application Service and regularly works closely with associates to undertake the majority of the necessary risk assessments; hydrogeological, landfill stability and landfill gas.
Negotiation with the Environment Agency at pre and post application stages together with completion of the Permit application forms, production of conceptual model figures and input to landfill design is undertaken to provide a complete Permit Application package for both new and existing landfills.
Close liaison with Clients and detailed understanding of the EP/PPC process and requirements of the Environment Agency help ensure satisfactory outcomes to applications.
