Formerly solely responsible for all of the water interests of Tarmac Limited for nearly seven years. Chris then worked as a freelance consultant before founding Hafren Water in 2000.

Over 23 years experience of groundwater and surface water management in relation to water resources, ecological /environmental assessment and the extractive mineral industry. Throughout his career he has been involved with an extensive range of projects in diverse fields including environmental auditing, regulatory compliance, technical assessment of dewatering schemes, environmental impact assessments for planning applications, negotiation with the Environment Agency and S.E.P.A, and Mineral Planning Authorities. Assessments of the potential effects of development upon water supported features of ecological interest, including extensive discussions with English Nature, County Wildlife Trusts and ecological consultants, are frequently undertaken. Practical experience in many aspects of groundwater exploration and development including the application of geophysical methods, drilling supervision, well design and borehole testing.

International experience of site investigations, groundwater resource evaluation, representation of employee/ client to third parties, public presentations, and liaison with diverse groups at all levels. Delivered workshop for WaterAid on Water Resources Management. Technical assessments of development projects in Ethiopia and Burkina Faso. Long-term interest in overseas development through participation with RedR, Water Aid and Oxfam.

HEATHER MACLEOD, BSc,MSc,FGS

Over 18 years experience in many aspects of groundwater and surface water investigation and management. Experienced in the design and implementation of hydrogeological and geo-environmental investigations to identify groundwater conditions and the presence of contamination including, borehole design and testing, groundwater monitoring, quantitative risk assessment, environmental impact assessments and feasibility assessments for groundwater abstraction. Experienced gained both within consultancy and the Environment Agency in relation to groundwater resources, mineral extraction, waste management and contaminated land assessments in respect of surface and groundwater.

PAUL AUSTIN ELLIS, BSc,PhD,FGS,CGeol

Over 17 years of experience in geosciences including hydrogeological and geological assessments. Detailed knowledge of interactions between surface water and groundwater and methods of investigation associated with these issues. Geothermal and groundwater modelling experience. International experience in Africa, South East Asia and Eastern Europe. Familiarity with geochemical and contaminant issues. In-depth knowledge of wetland assessments, mining geology and associated environmental issues. Designer of ground source heat exchangers for heat pump applications. Research interests include sustainability issues and water based restoration for the extractive industry.

LAWRENCE BROWN, BSc,MSc,FGS,CGeol

Lawrence Brown has over 31 years experience in international geoscience and is an experienced hydrogeologist specialising in groundwater resource management and evaluation, environmental assessment and impacts of quarrying on the water environment. He also has experience in the assessment of the impact of contaminated land and landfill sites on groundwater. Lawrence has considerable experience in the UK, including the management of conceptual and numerical groundwater modelling projects for the Environment Agency, quarry dewatering and the assessment of the impacts of groundwater abstraction on river flows for both the Environment Agency and water companies. Previous experience includes 17 years as an exploration geologist overseas.

He has recently completed inputs in Ghana and Nigeria, working in both the aid/development and commercial sectors. Extensive international experience includes managing a large groundwater modelling project in Oman, site supervision on one of the large wellfields comprising the Man-made River project in Libya, study of the hydrogeology of a limestone quarry in Nigeria, coal exploration in South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and China and uranium exploration in Malawi.
