Senior Hydrologist

We have a vacancy for a Senior Hydrologist to join our growing team. We operate throughout the UK from our Shrewsbury offices.


However, the location of work for this position is flexible and potential exists to work from a base remote from Shrewsbury, after an initial period in the head office.


The position requires:


  • A relevant first degree and MSc in hydrology or closely allied subject

  • 5 to 10 years-experience, including employment with a UK based consultancy

  • Proven project management experience

  • Good working knowledge of EA, NRW, SEPA and LLFA requirements

  • Excellent report writing, oral communication and organisational skills

  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and budgets, commercially aware

  • Experience of rainfall run-off methodologies (eg FEH, ReFH2)

  • Experience in the use of GIS including QGIS

  • Ideally experienced in preparing or assessing industry standard 1D, 1D/2D linked and 2D modelling software such as:
    • ISIS/Flood Modeller Pro

    • TUFLOW

    • HEC-RAS


  • Ideally some experience of Micro Drainage

The position would suit someone who is energetic and looking for a new challenge. The right candidate will have the opportunity to develop our Hydrology and Flood Risk Team, building on that which is already in place. They would have some freedom to steer the direction of future work and would be encouraged to develop additional areas of expertise. The successful candidate will be practical and able to produce both quantitative and qualitative flood risk assessments of a high standard and input to non-flood-related hydrological projects.

Flood Risk Hydrologist

We are currently looking for an experienced Flood Risk Hydrologist to join the team at Hafren Water. Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, we are a growing team that operates throughout the UK. We are looking for someone with:


  • 5-10 years-experience, including employment with a reputable consultant

  • Environment Agency employment, or very good working knowledge of EA, NRW, SEPA and LLFA requirements

  • Good working knowledge of rainfall run-off methodologies (eg FEH, REFH)

  • Proven ability with industry standard 1D, 1D/2D linked and 2D modelling software, including:

ISIS/Flood Modeller Pro
TUFLOW
HEC-RAS
Micro Drainage
GIS (QGIS)


  • Excellent report writing and oral communication

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Commercially aware; working to deadlines and budgets

The position would suit someone who is self-motivated, looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to make the role their own. The successful candidate will be highly practical and able to produce both quantitative and qualitative flood risk assessments. Input to non flood-related hydrological projects is also highly likely to be required.
