Environment Agency Consultation now open

The Environment Agency is consulting on changes they propose to the charging regime for permits issued under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (EPR), including waste, water discharges and installations. They are seeking to significantly simplifying the way operators work out their charges and move away from OPERA led charging.

In terms of the ‘Landfill and Deposit for Recovery Sector’, the Environment Agency propose significant rises in charges, particularly for closed landfill and some recovery activities. This is intended to reflect the regulatory burden of these permits. The consultation can be found here.

Consultation opened on the 30th November 2017 and closes 12th January 2018. Consultation responses can be provided directly to the Environment Agency or via Nicola Owen at the Mineral Products Association (MPA)
